BOOK Winter Truffle Hunts - June 2019

As Winter descends upon the Southern  Highlands so does the opportunity to enjoy fresh truffles so Wild Food Adventures has teamed up with a local Truffle Farm in Robertson to create our own unique adventure.

We have created what we believe mixes the best on offer in the area for hunts with a delicious menu and wine tasting from a premium local producer. Now that is great way to spend a chilly day in the Highlands.

Upon arrival at the Truffle Farm we start with light refreshments and an information session on the coveted French Black Perigold Truffles. Then we head into the Iles and Robur Oak trees to watch the truffle dogs follow the mystical aroma of these tubular delights and unearth them from the tree roots.

Then we enjoy a country lunch at the Farm featuring fresh Truffle with a matched wine-tasting from a local award winning cool climate wine maker.

Expect to dine on Truffle infused Brie and light pastry quiches with hints of Truffle inside each flaky layer. This is followed by Truffle Pasta with Parmesan, Roasted Chickens with Pomme Puree, Steamed Greens and Salad.

And just when you think you are full out comes the Mini Baked Truffle Chocolate Tarts with Macadamia Ice-cream. We are counting the days….

BOOK Fungi Forage  - April & May 2019

Mushroom foraging with a local expert

Autumn means there are mushrooms in the forest.

Your day starts as we embark on fresh Mushroom Hunt with Highland local ‘Master Forager’ Joanne who runs an outdoor laboratory, growing a large variety of edible flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs and edible ‘weeds’. She supplies local restaurants like Biota and Grand Bistro with her produce.

Ravenous and eager to try the freshest of mushrooms you have carefully located, we will pan fry them with butter and salt until they perfectly caramelised and serve with fresh locally made sour dough. We also bring in some exotic mushrooms from the Tunnel in Mittagong so you can see other varieties available in region.

Self Drive to attend the mushroom foraging activity only as a half day tour is $85 per person and we can also arrange transfers from Berrima.

All our tours for 2019 sold out very quickly so check back in the new year. Scheduled Tours will be on sale in early 2019 and run each Saturday from late April through May 2020 when the Saffron Milk Caps and Slippery Jacks are in the forest
